The off road park was  granted the right to operate during the month of June 2007 by the Henry County Zoning Board.  The Zoning Board agreed to allow the extension to allow for more time to review the proposed operating application, and for HillzNHollarz to submit additional information concerning the park’s layout and master plan.  The hearing was re-set for the last Monday in June 2007.  A 30 day reprive is better than none I guess.

This is the first substantive post on our new blog and there are quite a few important items.  You can read about all of these in detail on our main page at off-road information

  • Tecate SCORE Baja 500 Coming This Weekend- With over 525 official entries expected (a Score record), this 420.11-mile Desert Race will be held Saturday and Sunday in Ensenada, Mexico.  For the first-time in the history of the race, unofficial checkpoint times will be posted during the Baja 500.
  • Minnesotans Struggling Over OHV Use / Restrictions - Supporters of new restrictions on OHV use on state forests were disappointed from a change put through in the ending days of the recent legislative session, as a provision that would have limited ATVs and other OHVs to mapped trails in northern Minnesota was weakened in a last minute political        maneuver.  The law was changed altered to allow give OHV riders more latitude in northern Minnesota.
  • Environmentalists  Want To Ban Hungarian Off Road Festival- The Green wackos are everywhere folks and they won’t be happy until there is no more offroading. They want to ban this annual event as they say they are worried that it will spoil Lake Balaton, Hungary’s largest lake, and (gasp) harm the environment.   We have posted links up to some pictures of the event.
  • U.S. Forest Service To Make Sizable Changes In OHV Use in Ouachita National Forest- OHV use in Ouachita National Forest in southeastern Oklahoma will be restricted to designated trails only, starting in September 2008 under a new policy adopted by the U.S. Forest Service. Reportedly, open houses are scheduled next week in Broken Bow and Poteau by the Forest Service to get public input on what routes should be established for ATVs, motorcyles, and full size OHVs. Forest officials now admit that some visitors who have enjoyed four-wheeling in the 352,000-acre forest will not be happy with the changes. Some? How about most!?   A spokesperson for the Forest Service was quoted as saying ”We are not going to have designated trails or access by four-wheelers to every place someone wants to go.” The way this area has operated in the past all OHVs were are allowed on open roads and through the general forest area, except for the McCurtain County lands around Broken Bow Lake.   This is a big hit to offroaders folks!
  • OHV Restrictions Coming To Texas!- National Forests and Grasslands in Texas are proposing to restrict the use of OHVs to designated roads, trails and areas on the Angelina, Davy Crockett, and Sabine National Forests, and is now asking for public comments on the proposal. The proposed change would also prohibit crosscountry OHV use from roads and trails for big game retrieval.  This is another huge hit on OHV enthusiasts!
  • New  ATV Park Opens in Western PARock Run Recreation Area opened two weeks ago and has already been visited by a couple hundred riders from six different states. Rock Run is approximately 85 miles northeast of Pittsburgh.   Finally some good news!
